MLC Names New Mascot
When Henry Floyd, a Mary Lee Clark Elementary 3rd grader, learned that there were students at his school who may not be able to afford some of their basic needs, like socks and toothpaste, he wanted to do his part to help his friends. Henry created the "Panther Project" and sponsored a naming contest for the school's new panther mascot to raise money to donate to the school social workers.

Students from PreK-5 brought in change to vote for their favorite mascot name and by the end of the Panther Project, $670 was raised for the School Social Worker's Fund. The winning name "Sir Purr" was chosen by Jackson Bledsoe from the 1st grade.

Way to go, Henry, Jackson and the Mary Lee Clark Panthers. We think you did a "paw"some job!
